“After an email from Willow Street Dance notifying dance parents of an opportunity to enroll in a new “Little Ninjas” class in September of 2012, I asked my husband if he thought it was a good idea to enroll our 4 year old in the class. Luke hadn’t had much exposure to athletic activities outside of regular play and hadn’t shown much interest in any specific sport or activity (other than a budding interest in legos & a dedication to playing with all things with wheels!). The email came two days ahead of the first class, and we decided to attend. The location of the class is super convenient and we quickly realized what all around class acts Master Longshore and Master Lively are.

The beginning classes balanced lessons, both physical and mental, with games, and the masters are highly skilled at keeping the attention of any student. Even 3 and 4 year olds!! Luke liked the class, he quickly developed a deep and true respect of his instructors, and he was eager to learn more about TKD, especially as the class grew and he was able to grow, learn & practice with dear friends.

My husband, within weeks of attending classes, told me that enrolling Luke in this class was the best decision we could have made for him. This comment came from observing his improved physical abilities related to balance and posture, his quick gains in knowledge related to the tenets of TKD and his dedication to practice in order to move to the next level. Belt tests for a 5 and 6 year old are impressive to observe, as the students, no matter how young, understand the importance of the event and the manners that are expected while the test takes place.

I could write a book about the skills and dedication that Master Longshore and Master Lively show and model on a daily basis to all of their students and parents. It is always a pleasure to see them, they are consistently well-prepared for class, they know their students and they hold their students to an appropriate expectation in relation to practice and social skills.  It is absolutely a pleasure to write about the positive impact that Longshore TKD has had, and continues to have, for our son. He is working towards an orange belt as he heads towards three years in classes, and my husband and I hope that this is a practice, under the guidance of Masters Longshore and Lively, that he maintains for years to come.”

“Our grandson and entire family have enjoyed the expertise, kindness and education that you have provided, not only to our grandson but to everyone.
Our grandson Cooper Shaw has benefited greatly.  His life has become full of excitement and aspirations!!!  All of this is thanks to being a part of your Martial Arts Academy.  Being a beginner at anything can be difficult, but there was no hesitation whatsoever in providing a safe, happy and educational learning environment for our grandson.  He loves participating and even wants to learn the Korean language as he learns more and more from practice and during his Taekwondo lessons.

We are pleased to be a part of the Longshore’s Taekwondo family.  We highly recommend your academy and look forward to all of our grandchildren and friends experiencing the enjoyment, education, dedication and confidence that Master Longshore, Master Lively and all of the members have provided.  We could not ask for anything better.  Your academy strives for excellence both in the practice session and progression of belts.  Our grandson has gained independence, self-confidence, peace, respect and discipline.  This is shown in all aspects, even strengthening his abilities both at home and at school.

In closing, our grandson Cooper is making life long goals and thinking about how he can one day become a leader.  We are proud to see him developing into a confident, intelligent and disciplined young man.  He has made many friends and life long contacts.  Thank you for welcoming us into your wonderful martial arts academy with open arms and giving us much happiness!”

Sincerely,
The Grandparents of Harley “Cooper” Shaw
